The story leads off as Doctor Barry Laverty; having just finished his medical internship pulls his old Volkswagen Beetle and seeks to find his way.

The story is about how he finds his way, romance and the gritty Dr. O’Reilly who performs interesting medical procedures, and mentors the newly minted young physician in the mores and methods of rural country medicine in the 1960.s.

Ballybucklebo (a fictional place) in Northern Ireland is the setting.  The romance is stellar, the plot is heart warming, and the ending is a sterling finish.

The author was a physician in Ireland and now resides in Canada.

As a new writer on the scene, and a darned good one, we expect to see much more from the pen of Patrick Taylor.
